Independent joins Redkey council race (06/20/07)
Another Independent has joined the race for Redkey Town Council.
Wayne E. Stevens, 434 W. Main St., filed paperwork Monday in the Jay County Clerk's office to be placed on the Nov. 6 council ballot.
He joins three Democrats and one other independent in the race, which will select three representatives to the council.
Previously filing as an Independent was "Watermellon" Jim Phillips.
Phillips and Stevens will appear on the ballot along with Democrats Dottie Quakenbush, Phil Philebaum and Terri D. Taylor.
Quakenbush is a longtime member of the council.
There are currently no Republicans running for the three council seats.
