Indian cagers blast Tri-Village (12/12/05)

NEW MADISON, Ohio — Early in the 2005-06 season Fort Recovery has shown the ability to bounce back.
On the season’s first weekend the Indians dropped their Friday opener to Kalida, but came back to defeat Mississinawa Valley a night later.
Friday night the Tribe lost by 21 to Midwest Athletic Conference rival Versailles only to put together an excellent game Saturday for a 59-35 destruction of the Tri-Village Patriots.
Fort Recovery trailed 3-2 in the opening minute, but went on a 13-0 run and never looked back. The Indians were up by 10 at the end of the first quarter and 16 at halftime. They outscored Tri-Village 18-6 in the third period to put the game away.
After getting out-rebounded, turning the ball over far to often and missing a bunch of free throws against Versailles, the Tribe turned the tables on Tri-Village.
Fort Recovery (2-2) grabbed 28 boards, led by nine off the bench from Clint Tobe, to 22 for the Patriots. It had just 10 turnovers while the Patriots gave the ball away 21 times.
The Indians also shot 47 percent from the field — 52 in the first half — while holding Tri-Village to 27 percent for the game.
Bobby Rammel came off the bench for a game-high 11 points to lead the Tribe. Travis VanSkyock and Ryan Staugler each had 10 points, and Tobe added nine.
VanSkyock grabbed six rebounds to go along with four blocks and three assists. Staugler also had three assists.
Logan Brubaker paced Tri-Village with 11 points, and Sam Lindamood added nine. Lindamood also had seven rebounds while Taylor Brubaker grabbed five boards.
Junior varsity
The Indians clamped down defensively in the third quarter in a 43-28 victory over Tri-Village.
Fort Recovery led by five at halftime, then limited the Patriots to just a pair of third-quarter points. The defensive stand helped push the advantage to 15 points with just eight minutes to play and Tri-Village could not recover.
Lucas Staugler led the Tribe with 14 points, and Aaron Kahlig scored 11. Eric Lamm (nine rebounds), Curt Heitkamp (seven) and Staugler (six) carried the Indians to a 31-16 advantage on the glass.
Alex Bevins and Tyler Fisherback each had seven points for the Patriots. Derrick Chowning scored six points.[[In-content Ad]]
