FORT RECOVERY - The Indians won their tune-up. The MAC schedule starts next.
Fort Recovery High School's volleyball team opened its season Tuesday with a 25-17, 25-16, 17-25, 25-18 victory over the visiting Mississinawa Valley Blackhawks. The Tribe will jump into Midwest Athletic Conference play Thursday when it visits Parkway.
Kinsey Wenning, a junior three-year varsity player and the returning leader in kills, led the way against Mississinawa Valley with 10 kills. Sarah Braun added eight kills and three blocks, and Kelsey Wuebker had seven points and five assists.
Beth May racked up 16 service points, three of which came on aces.
Nicole Pottkotter and Heather Schmackers had team highs of nine assists and seven digs respectively.
Junior varsity
Josie Guggenbiller powered the Indians to a 25-21, 25-22 victory over Mississinawa Valley.
Guggenbiller shared team highs with four kills, three points and one block. She also had five assists and a dig.
Chelsey Leuthold totaled six digs and three points, and Lorraine Shier had four kills. Alyssa Brackman finished with six digs, and Carly Staugler put up six assists.
Freshman
NEW BREMEN, Ohio - Fort Recovery rolled to 2-0, topping the New Bremen Cardinals 25-16, 25-16.
Kendra Brunswick tallied six assists, four points and a block to lead the Indians. Renee Fortkamp finished with six points and two digs, and Barbie Link scored four points.
Junior high
FORT RECOVERY - The Indian teams split their first matches of the season, with the eighth graders rallying past the Parkway Panthers 11-25, 25-16, 25-20 while the seventh grade team fell 25-17, 26-24 in Midwest Athletic Conference action.
Kara Faller's team-high totals of eight kills and six blocks led the Fort Recovery eighth graders. Rashell Muhlenkamp scored 12 points, Olivia Schwieterman followed with 10 points and Kylie Kahlig had four kills.
Janelle Schwieterman finished with 10 points for the seventh grade Tribe, and Elizabeth Wendel scored four points.[[In-content Ad]]
