Indians clobber Loramie (01/02/07)

The Lady Indians out-shot, out-rebounded, and out-hustled visiting Fort Loramie Saturday night to rack up a dominating 54-30 victory.

Holly Stein led Fort Recovery with 17 points, hitting 5 of 9 from the field and 7 of 10 from the free throw line.

Tiffany Gaerke had 11 points for Fort Recovery, hitting 5 of 8 from the field and one of 3 from the line. Both Anne Koesters and Sara Fortkamp scored 7, while Lauren Wenning contributed 6 points.

Fort Recovery grabbed 30 rebounds to just 20 for Fort Loramie.

The Lady Indians shot just under 40 percent for the game and were hitting 45 percent of their shots in the second half.

Fort Recovery jumped out to an early lead, thanks to three quick baskets in the opening minutes by Stein. By 3:29 in the first quarter, the Lady Indians led 13-2. At the end of the quarter, it was 16-10 Fort Recovery.

The domination continued in second quarter, with Fort Recovery outscoring the visitors 16-8 to make it 32-18 at the half.

Similar margins - 12-6 in the third and 10-6 in the fourth - assured the win.

In the JV contest, Fort Recovery led most of the way, but Fort Loramie went on a fourth quarter 12-1 tear to win 32-30. Kinsey Wenning had 8 points, Chelsey Leuthold 7, and Nicole Pottkotter 6 for Fort Recovery.[[In-content Ad]]
