FORT RECOVERY - The shooting woes didn't last long.
After hitting for less than 30 percent from the field Friday night in a loss to Jay County, the Fort Recovery High School boys basketball team caught fire Saturday. The Indians shot 60 percent from the field and dominated visiting Tri-Village Patriots 69-55.
The game was not nearly as close as the final score as the Tribe (2-1) poured in 24 second-quarter points for a 23-point halftime lead. It pushed the advantage to as many as 29 points in the third quarter.
Putting the struggles against Jay County behind them, the Indians had four players score in double figures Saturday. All four had impressive shooting nights, led by Greg Kahlig's 9-of-13 effort for 20 points. The junior has scored at least 20 in all three games thus far.
Frank Thien shot 6-of-8 for 12 points, Wes Kahlig went 4-of-5 and totaled 11 points and Toby Metzger nailed 5-of-6 for 10 points.
Fort Recovery still managed to hit just one of its 10 3-point attempts, but more than made up for it by shooting a sizzling 74 percent inside the arc.
Metzger and Kahlig also each turned in a double-double, finishing with 11 and 10 rebounds respectively. Thien dished out six assists, and Metzger added five.
Tyler Greer had 19 points for Tri-Village, which shot 20 percent (5-of-25) in the first half before finding its touch after the intermission (13-of-20, 65 percent). Cody Gunckel had 15 points and three rebounds off the bench, and Drew Moore added 11 points, three rebounds and two assists.
Matt Miller grabbed five boards.

Shane Brunswick scored 14 points to lead the Tribe, and Ryan Schoen added eight. Michael Gaerke totaled 12 rebounds, four steals and three assists.
