Indians drop to 0-3 in conference (09/14/07
Fort Recovery volleyball
VERSAILLES, Ohio - The Midwest Athletic Conference schedule continued to batter the Fort Recovery High School volleyball team Thursday as it lost 25-17, 25-21, 23-25, 25-9 to the Versailles Tigers. The team is now 4-5 overall and 0-3 in the MAC.
Senior Sarah Braun finished with team highs of nine kills and five blocks in the defeat. Kinsey Wenning added eight kills and six points, Nicole Pottkotter had 16 assists and six digs and Emily May notched six digs and five blocks.
Beth May scored nine points, including three aces, and Heather Schmackers added six digs.
Junior varsity
The Indians suffered their first loss of the season 25-13, 25-23 to Versailles.
Alyssa Brackman put up team-best totals of 13 digs and six points in the defeat. Josie Guggenbiller had eight assists and six digs for Fort Recovery (5-1, 2-1 MAC), and Lauren Staugler finished with four kills and three blocks.
Holly Brunswick posted a team-high six blocks, Olivia Thien had three blocks and Chelsey Leuthold added three kills.
Middle School
UNION CITY - Both Fort Recovery teams defeated the Union City Indians, with the seventh graders rolling to a 25-15, 25-13 win and the eighth grade team taking a 25-22, 18-25, 15-7 victory.
Chelsea Pottkotter paced the seventh grade team, which pushed above .500 at 4-3, with 13 points. Janelle Schwieterman had five points and three assists for the Indians, and Elizabeth Wendel chipped in two kills.
Kylie Kahlig scored nine points, including five aces, and notched five kills for the Fort Recovery eighth graders (3-4). Ericka Lennartz scored half of her 10 points with aces, Olivia Schwieterman had four assists and Kara Faller finished with three kills.[[In-content Ad]]
