Indians earn 2nd MAC win (05/02/07)

Fort Recovery baseball

NEW BREMEN, Ohio - It would seem the Indians have the "new" teams' number. That should bode well for Saturday.

Fort Recovery scored its second Midwest Athletic Conference baseball win Tuesday, holding off the New Bremen Cardinals 7-6. The Tribe, which will play New Bremen again in the sectional tournament Saturday at Minster, earned its other MAC win over New Knoxville.

The Indians (8-6, 2-4 MAC) jumped out to a 4-0 lead, only to see New Bremen score four times in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game. They pulled ahead again with three runs in the sixth and limited the Cardinals to two in the bottom of the seventh for the one-run triumph.

Bobby Rammel powered the Tribe offense with two hits, two runs, two RBIs and a stolen base in the sectional preview. Toby Metzger had two hits, including a double, and two RBIs, Tony Diller had two hits and Frank Thien scored twice.

Four different pitchers saw action in the win, with Kevin Schoenherr allowing four unearned runs in two innings for the win. Bobby Rammel slammed the door in the seventh for the save.
