Indians fall to Tigers (09/12/2008)

FORT RECOVERY - The Indians put up a strong fight. But they couldn't knock off one of the best teams in the state.
The Division III No. 6 Versailles Tigers defeated the Fort Recovery High School volleyball team 25-22, 25-23, 14-25, 25-16 Thursday.
Anne Koesters had eight kills and two blocks for the Indians (5-4, 0-3 Midwest Athletic Conference), whose other losses this season came to Division III No. 5 Parkway (twice) and Minster. Nicole Pottkotter finished with 19 assists, and Kelsey Wuebker added 15.
Emily May led the defense with 17 digs, Joanna Snyder had 14 digs and Chelsey Leuthold and Holly Brunswick scored 12 and 11 points respectively. Kinsey Wenning totaled 11 kills.
Junior varsity
Carly Staugler had eight digs and six assists to lead FRHS to a 25-15, 25-18 win over the Tigers.
Olivia Thien had five points and four kills for the Indians (4-4, 0-3 MAC), and Kendra Brunswick had seven digs. Lorraine Shier had a team-best five kills, and Holly Thien scored four points.
Junior high
VERSAILLES, Ohio - Fort Recovery's eighth grade team played three close games as it fell 25-20, 20-25, 25-21 to the Tigers. The seventh graders lost 25-10, 25-8.
Amy Link led the eighth graders (4-3) with 13 points, four kills and two blocks. Janelle Schwieterman had nine points, six aces and seven assists. Chelsea Pottkotter slammed 10 kills, Emily Link had five assists and Kelsey Fiely added four kills.
Ashley Homan's three points led the seventh grade team. Becky Brockman had a kill and a dig.[[In-content Ad]]
