Indians get 1st victory (09/27/05)
FRHS cross country
BROOKVILLE, Ohio — Two weeks ago only the Flyers were faster than the Indians. But Marion Local could not deny Fort Recovery its first victory again.
Two weeks after finishing second behind its Midwest Athletic Conference rival at the Spencerville Invitational, Fort Recovery edged the Flyers 39-40 at the Brookville Invitational Saturday for its first win of the year. The team had also finished third at the Celina Rotary Invitational, fourth at the Eaton Invitational and fifth at the Fort Loramie Invitational.
The Tribe and Marion Local were well ahead of the other two teams as Cambridge City placed third with 70 points.
Fort Recovery’s boys team was last among five teams with 104 points. St. Henry won with 38.
The Indians lost 49-73 to the Flyers at the 11-team Spencerville event, but got strong efforts from freshman Tina Roessner and sophomore Mindy Vogel to lead them to victory Saturday.
Roessner and Vogel finished back to back — one spot behind Emily Wuebker of Marion Local — in fourth and fifth places. Roessner crossed the finish line in 21-minutes, 19 seconds, and Vogel finished in 21:26.
Junior Sandra Sudhoff also finished in the top 10. She placed third on the team and eight overall in 21:48.

Tyler Huelskamp placed 37th in 22:42, Matt Heinrichs was 39th at 23:44 and Joel Bey took 43rd in a time of 27:21.
