Indians roll over St. John's
Fort Recovery volleyball
DELPHOS, Ohio — The Indians picked up consecutive wins Tuesday for the first time in a month. In order to make it three in a row, they’ll need to beat the best Division IV team in the state.
Fort Recovery High School’s volleyball team followed up Monday’s victory over Ansonia with a 25-20, 25-23, 25-20 win over the host St. John’s Blue Jays.
The Tribe, which is now 7-14 overall and 2-7 in the Midwest Athletic Conference, will host Division IV No. 1 Marion Local (20-1, 8-0 MAC) Thursday.
Senior Olivia Thien racked up 14 points, 14 digs and six kills for Fort Recovery Tuesday.Holly Brunswick had 17 kills and seven points in the win over St. John’s (8-12, 1-7 MAC).
Shelby Brunswick totaled 15 assists, and Abby Backs had 11 digs.
FRHS also won the junior varsity match 25-17, 25-14.
Sierra Pugh had 15 points and five assists, and Kara Faller finished with six kills. Heather Vaughn came up with 11 digs, and Amy Link followed with eight.
Middle school
FORT RECOVERY — The Indians’ eighth grade team picked up a 25-11, 25-16 victory over St. John’s to finish its regular season at 8-8. The seventh grade team also topped the Blue Jays, 25-14, 14-25, 26-24.
Rachel Pugh had 10 points, including six aces, and six assists to lead the eighth graders. Haley Knapke added 10 points and five kills, and Tori Lennartz finished with six kills.
Kirsten Jutte totaled nine points and three kills for the seventh grade Indians (6-10). Morgan Lennartz recorded nine kills, and Trisha Thien scored eight points.[[In-content Ad]]
