Indians roll over the Wave

FRHS girls basketball

GREENVILLE, Ohio - The Indians' effort from the 3-point and free-throw lines wasn't stellar. But their lights-out shooting from 2-point range more than made up for it.

Three players scored in double figures as the Fort Recovery High School girls basketball team hit more than 60 percent of its 2-point tries in a 58-42 victory Thursday over the Greenville Green Wave.

Kendra Brunswick scored 17 points for the Indians (2-0), who gradually pulled away from Greenville. They led by four after the opening quarter, eight at halftime and 12 at the close of the third quarter.

Nicole Pottkotter and Chelsea Leuthold each went 5-of-10 from the field for 11 points as FRHS shot 20-of-33 from 2-point range. Pottkotter added eight rebounds and two blocks, and Leuthold had six rebounds.

Emily May added four steals, and Nicole Dilworth had three assists.

The Tribe's sharp inside shooting helped it overcome a 3-of-20 effort from long distance and a 9-of-20 (45 percent) mark at the foul line. Fort Recovery also forced 31 turnovers and dominated the glass 32-22.

Jena Studabaker shot 7-of-12 from the field to lead the Green Wave with 15 points. Aireca Hetzler added 11 points, seven rebounds and five steals.
