Jay County, South Adams to play at Purdue (09/07/07)
Band members from Jay County and South Adams high schools will join together with 21 other Indiana high school bands at Purdue All-American High School Band Day Saturday, Sept. 15.
William Fread, a retired music educator from Hartford City, will serve as guest conductor for the band show, which will feature nearly 1,500 performers.
The show, which will be held at halftime of Purdue's game at Ross-Ade Stadium against Central Michigan, will begin with the Purdue University Marching Band performing while the high school bands assemble on the sidelines.
The combined bands will perform John Williams' "Raiders March," along with Johnny Rivers' "Secret Agent Man." The show will close with "God Bless the USA."
Other high school bands participating in the event Sept. 15 include Crown Point, Delphi, Frankfort, North Central (Indianapolis), Knightstown, Faith Christian (Lafayette), McCutcheon, Edison, Riverton Park, New Prairie, Benton Central, Peru, Rensselaer Central, Rochester, Wheeler, Boone Grove, William Henry Harrison, West Lafayette and Seeger.[[In-content Ad]]
