The Patriots and Indians will both have to take the long road through the sectional while the Starfires drew a bye to the semifinals.
The Indiana tournament draw was held this morning, and Jay County High School’s volleyball team got an opening-round match against Fort Wayne North Side in the Class 4A Sectional 6 tournament at Fort Wayne South Side. South Adams will play Bishop Luers in the semifinals of Class 2A Sectional 37 at Adams Central.
Fort Recovery will meet Fairview in the first round of the Division III Van Wert sectional in the Ohio tournament, which held its draw Sunday.
Jay County (12-15) and North Side will play in the second opening-round match Oct. 21 at 7:30 p.m. following the battle between the host Archers and Marion. The winners of those matches will advance to semifinal action Oct. 23 at 11 a.m., and Homestead and Huntington North will play in the other semifinal match at 12:30 p.m.
The championship match will be Oct. 23 at 6 p.m.
At Van Wert, Fort Recovery (5-14) will open tournament play against Fairview (3-13) on Oct. 19 at 6:15 p.m. with another opening-round match between Coldwater (12-8) and Paulding (13-6) to follow.
The FRHS/Fairview winner will play Parkway (16-3) in the first of two sectional title matches Oct. 23 at 3 p.m. The Coldwater/Paulding winner will take on Lima Central Catholic (15-5) in the other sectional title match at 4:30 p.m.

FR JV drops pair
COLDWATER, Ohio — The Fort Recovery junior varsity volleyball team dropped both of its matches Saturday, falling 15-25, 25-17, 25-20 to Lima Central Catholic and 25-21, 25-19 to the Coldwater Cavaliers.
Kelsey Fiely led the Indians in both matches, finishing with 14 digs and three kills against LCC and 13 digs and six kills versus Coldwater.
Against LCC, Amy Link had 11 points, 10 digs and five kills, Heather Vaughn notched 20 digs and Emily Link put up seven assists. In the loss to Coldwater, Emily Link had seven points, six assists and five digs, and Sierra Pugh totaled six points and six assists.
Eagles cruise
WARREN — West Jay Middle School’s football team rolled to a 26-0 victory Saturday over host Salamonie.
Jacob LeMaster got the Eagles going with a 53-yard touchdown run as he finished with 68 yards on just two carries. Kyle Blankenship added a 20-yard TD run, and Joey Springer scored on a 2-yard run.
Phillip Newsome added a blocked punt for a safety, and Jake Moore and Daniel Miranda each came up with an interception.
Faulkner leads
Gabe Faulkner scored the only points in his Jay County Pee Wee Football League game, leading his Dolphins to a 6-0 victory Saturday over the Colts.
Jacob Patch and Jake Geesaman each scored two TDs leading the Giants and Vikings to victories over the Winchester Hawks and Winchester Falcons respectively. Thomas Hemmelgarn, Gabe Link and Nathanael Day each had a TD in the Bears’ win over the Cowboys, and Noah Hummel and Tyler Jester scored as the Chiefs shut out the Bengals.[[In-content Ad]]
