JC grad powers IU-East

A Jay County High School graduate led the Indiana University - East men's basketball team to its third win in four games Saturday.
Tyler Rigby, class of 2006, scored 24 points to help lift the Red Wolves to an 85-81 victory over Purdue University - Calumet. The team is 7-1 in its last eight games after starting the season 0-3.
Rigby shot 9-of-16 (56 percent) and hit four 3-pointers in the game. He added two rebounds, two steals and one assist in the victory.
He also had 13 points and seven rebounds Dec. 8 in a 77-66 loss to Northern Kentucky.
Rigby is IU-East's leading scorer this season at 15.7 points per game. He also averages 3.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.6 steals.
Dexter Shreve
Jay County - 2009
Placed 10th in the heptathlon Saturday for the Kent State University men's track team as it hosted the Golden Flash Gala.
Shreve's best individual-event finish came in the 1,000-meter run as he posted a time of 2 minutes, 50.16 seconds for sixth place. He scored 4,630 points overall in the heptathlon to finish just three behind ninth-place Korbin Smith of Ohio State.
The freshman placed eighth in the long jump at 6.38 meters (20 feet, 11 inches), and was ninth in both the 60 dash with a time of 7.28 and the high jump at 1.93 meters (6 feet, 4 inches). He was 13th in the pole vault, 16th in the 60 hurdles and 18th in the shot put.
Joanna Snyder
Fort Recovery - 2009
Finished with seven points and six rebounds Dec. 9 in the Ohio Northern University women's basketball team's 62-55 loss to Capital.
Snyder also had one assist and one block for the Polar Bears, who are now 3-5.
The freshman finished with three points, eight rebounds, two assists and a steals Wednesday as ONU lost to Muskingum. She also totaled four points, two assists, two steals and one rebound Saturday in a loss to undefeated Mount Union.
Snyder is third on the team in rebounds (3.7 per game), assists (16) and steals (11).
Cori Vormohr
Jay County - 2009
Placed sixth Saturday for the Ball State University women's swim team in a 155-145 loss to Michigan State.
Vormohr posted a time of 1 minute, 9.97 seconds in the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing less than a second behind teammate Mackenzie Imbro for sixth place.
She and fellow Cardinals Emily Richards, Morgan Baumgartle and Dana Graunke finished the 200 freestyle relay in 1:44.52.
