JEMS looking to buy ambulance

Jay County Commissioners

Jay Emergency Medical Service is gearing up to buy a new ambulance chassis.
JEMS director Teresa Foster-Geesaman presented the commissioners with two quotes for 2011 ambulance chassis — $106,435 for a Chevrolet diesel engine and $83,960 for a Ford gasoline engine.
Foster-Geesaman told the commissioners she is also trying to get two more quotes for the ambulance.
JEMS last replaced an ambulance chassis in late 2009.
Also for JEMS, the commissioners approved a $12,709 contract with Tritech for software that will allow technicians to input medical run data on their laptops.
The cost also includes a two-day training session to teach JEMS employees how to use the software.
In other business Monday, the commissioners:
•Made Jay County Treasurer Robin Alberson purchasing agent to buy a new computer for her department at a cost not to exceed $1,400.
•Were informed by Ray Newton that inmate work crews will be cleaning side ditches along county roads this month.[[In-content Ad]]
