Johnson finishes in 10th

A Jay County High School graduate helped the Wildcats to victory as they won Saturday as invitational hosts.
Amanda Johnson, JCHS class of 2008, turned in a 10th-place finish as the NAIA No. 13 Indiana Wesleyan University women’s cross country team as it won the Indiana Wesleyan Invitational with 29 points. Indiana Tech was the runner-up with 42 points in the eight-team field.
Johnson turned in one of her best performances with the Wildcats, posting a time of 19-minutes, 8.43 seconds. That was good for the No. 4 time for IWU, which took seven of the top 14 places.
Allison Beitler, a 2010 South Adams graduate, competed for Goshen College at the Indiana Wesleyan Invitational. She finished in 25th place overall, leading her team with a time of 19:52.
Tiff Gaerke
Fort Recovery - 2007
Finished with a season-high in kills Saturday as the University of Dayton women’s volleyball team rolled to a 25-15, 25-15, 25-17 victory over Fordham.
Gaerke saw action in just one game, but recorded five kills and had an outstanding .833 attack percentage. She also had one block.
The senior totaled four digs, two kills, two aces and a block Friday as 20th-ranked Dayton beat Rhode Island in three games.
Sam Heckard
South Adams - 2010
Turned in the No. 5 time for the Bethel College men’s cross country team Saturday at the Notre Dame Invitational.
Heckard finished the race in 30 minutes, 27 seconds. He was 131st overall.
Maddie Moore
South Adams - 2009
Took one of the Bluffton University women’s soccer team’s shots on goal Wednesday in a 3-1 loss to Earlham College.

Moore finished with two total shots for the Beavers against Earlham, and had one of their four shots on goal. She also took one shot Saturday in Bluffton’s 4-0 loss to Transylvania.

Saw action for the Trine University football team Saturday as it rolled to a 55-7 win over Manchester.
McGill is a sophomore defensive back for the Thunder. The victory ran Trine’s record to 4-0 this year.

Fort Recovery - 2009
Played for the NCAA Division III No. 8 Ohio Northern football team Saturday in a 27-0 loss to No. 2 Mount Union.
