Johnson lauded for park work
Letters to the Editor
To the editor:
Having grown up in Dunkirk, and now raising six sons there, I have really appreciated having the Dunkirk Pool and always felt like it is a great asset to a community of our size. The same can be said for our city park. Dunkirk is so fortunate to have a park of that size and quality for spending time with the family or gathering for special occasions. I really appreciate all the hard work that Tom Johnson put into managing the Park Department in our town.
Many hours he spent handling maintenance issues to keep the pool, dealing with personnel and just keeping things running for the residents to enjoy. I do not understand why he was dismissed from that position, and it saddens me. He really did a good job at a job that has to be time consuming, and I appreciated his service in that role.
Thanks,

Just a note of thanks to Miller's Merry Manor. I recently had ankle surgery that left me in dire need of physical rehab. I chose Miller's and I am very glad I did. My expectations were high, if only from my knowledge of the employees and staff.
From the time of admission until the time of discharge from the facility, everyone did the very best to make my stay pleasant. The physical therapy staff not only worked to improve my mobility at the facility, they also went to my home to assess the challenges I would face there and helped me to overcome them.
I have mentioned physical therapy personnel and that same level of dedication and care was found throughout the facility. Nurses and aides, maintenance, kitchen staff (great food), office staff and the administrator were all dedicated to the comfort of the people under their care. Whether it was 3 p.m. or 3 a.m. you would always see a pleasant smile, then hear, "What can I do to help you?"
The ankle surgery left me flat on my back. Miller's helped me recover and safely return to finish the mending process.
