Three area graduates competed at Saturday’s Little State Meet, with Amanda Johnson of host Indiana Wesleyan University leading the way.
The 2008 Jay County High School graduate earned a victory for the Wildcats while Brandon Reynard, JCHS class of 2009, added a runner-up finish for Indiana Tech.
Johnson helped her squad to a fifth-place finish out of 17 teams with her effort in the 800-meter run. She fought off DePauw’s Kathleen Molly to win in 2 minutes, 15.56 seconds.
The junior teamed with Katelin Morgan, Cassidy Wagner and Angi Wolgemuth for a fourth-place finish in the 4x400 relay in 3:59.12. She was also 13th in the high jump at 4 feet, 9 inches.
Reynard turned in his second-place finish for the Warriors, who placed third as a team, in the 400 hurdles. He crossed the line in 53.04 trailing only Jermel Kindred of the Indianapolis.
Sam Heckard, a 2010 South Adams graduate, also competed at the meet for the Bethel College men’s team, which placed fifth. He was 22nd in the 10,000 run in 35:54.

Beitler reached base on an error to lead off the fifth inning and scored on a sacrifice fly from Jessica Reed. She had a sacrifice bunt in her only other plate appearance.
The sophomore was also 1-for-3 with a double April 7 in a 10-4 loss to Huntington.
