Johnson wins IWU invite

Alyssa Johnson earned the individual win Saturday. Amanda Johnson's squad took the top team prize.
The Johnson sisters, 2006 and '08 Jay County High School graduates respectively, competed Saturday at the Indiana Wesleyan Invitational, with Alyssa finishing in first place.
Alyssa outdistanced the 45-runner field by nearly 10 seconds as her Taylor University women's cross country team finished second out of four teams. She posted a winning time of 19 minutes, 12.01 seconds, which is her best of the season.
Amanda finished in 20:12 for 16th place as her host Wildcats placed first. Indiana Wesleyan is ranked 10th in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).
Tiff Gaerke
Fort Recovery - 2007
Totaled nine kills Friday in the University of Dayton women's volleyball team's three-game victory over Temple.
Gaerke also had seven digs and a block for the Flyers, who are now 14-2 overall and 3-0 in the Atlantic 10. She added seven kills, four digs and two blocks as Dayton defeated La Salle 25-16, 25-18, 25-11 Saturday.
Adam Gray
Jay County - 2009
Put up his best score in the second round as the Valparaiso University men's golf team finished 12th out of 13 teams Tuesday at the Butler Fall Invitational.
Gray shot a 76 in the second of his three 18-hole rounds at Eagle Creek Golf Course in Indianapolis. He finished with a 54-hole total of 241.
Joseph Vormohr
Jay County - 2006
Set the tone up front Saturday as the Hanover College football team picked up its first victory 51-13 over Anderson.
Vormohr started at center as the Panthers racked up 393 total yards. Hanover connected on five passing touchdowns.
Maddie Moore
South Adams - 2009
Racked up six shots Saturday in the Bluffton University women's soccer team's 1-0 loss to Franklin.
Moore had one shot on goal in the defeat. She ranks third on the team this season with 16 shots on goal.

Fort Recovery - 2009
Played for the Ohio Northern University football team Saturday in its 37-34 victory over Muskingum.
