Judo club thanks supporters (10/06/06)

Letters to the Editor

To the editor:

Judan Judo Club would like to thank our supporters for another great year. Children and adults in our program were given the opportunity to compete in the national events in California and Florida.

Judan Judo is a not-for-profit organization located in Portland since 1978. It provides a year around program where all children can be champion.

Again, we thank the community, and the following companies and individuals for their support: Prairie Foods, Tyson Foods, Jay School Corporation, Alpine Water, Noble Church, Viola and Annie Clark, July Fourth Committee, Judy and Kenny Daniels, Jenny's Cafe, Tri-State Gas Engine and Tractor Association, Jay County Solid Waste District and parents who have donated countless supplies and hours.

Questions

To the editor:

I am writing in regards to the LifeStream InterUrban van out of Yorktown. Here lately, especially the last couple of weeks, I have called their toll-free number to ride for at least four stops.

The first week I was unable to ride at all, due to them picking up school children.

The second week I was able to ride, but only able to make two stops due to picking up school children again.

I said to my driver that I thought the InterUrban was for senior citizens only (editor's note: The New InterUrban is for all area residents of any age). It just upsets me to no end. The only time I ride is to go to doctor's appointments, the grocery, pay utilities or other necessary items.

I just want to let my fellow senior citizens know what's going on. Maybe you already know. I am of the belief you surely are feeling the same way as I do. So everyone of us stand up for our rights to ride when it's necessary.
