Kahlig leads FR over Green Wave (01/21/08)

GREENVILLE, Ohio - Greg Kahlig turned in another mammoth effort and the Division IV No. 6 Fort Recovery High School boys basketball team opened a big lead early in the fourth quarter as it topped the Greenville Green Wave 56-50.
Coming off a loss Friday night to Marion Local, the Indians (11-4) won behind a 25-point effort from Kahlig.
The Tribe lead was just three points late in the third quarter, but Bobby Rammel buried a jumper with 1:02 remaining and Kahlig hit a 3-pointer 25 seconds later to push ahead 34-26 with eight minutes to play. Fort Recovery added a 7-2 run to open the fourth quarter and was up by as many as 15 points before the Green Wave closed the gap for the final margin.
Kahlig scored nine of his game-high total in the fourth quarter. He hit 12-of-15 free throws for the game, and was 3-of-5 from 3-point range. He grabbed five rebounds and dished out three assists.
Bobby Rammel followed with 14 points and a game-best six rebounds. Brent Faller had eight points and five boards, and Clint Tobe finished with seven points and four assists.
Nic Warren powered Greenville (7-6) with 17 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals, all of which were team highs. Zach Guillozet and Chris Lockhart each added 14 points.
Junior varsity
Fort Recovery struggled in the second half, falling 52-32 to the Green Wave.
The Indians were up by one at the intermission, but were limited to 12 second-half points. Greenville racked up 33 points after the break, including 22 in the fourth quarter.
Kyle Post was the lone FRHS player in double figures, finishing with 18 points - he shot 8-of-14 (57 percent) - and four rebounds. Matt Braun had five points, four rebounds, four steals and three assists.
Kris Fox totaled 15 points, six assists and five boards for the Green Wave. Cody Gunckel had 12 points, and Graham Luce finished with nine points and 13 rebounds.[[In-content Ad]]
