Kahlig leads Indian girls (04/11/08)

FORT RECOVERY - The Indians spread the wealth Thursday night.
Seven different Fort Recovery Middle School girls combined for eight individual wins, including two by Kylie Kahlig, and five more contributed to relay victories as the Tribe finished first as hosts of four-team action. The Indians won easily with 129 points, followed by Anna (69), Arcanum (14) and Fairlawn (11).
The FRMS boys managed just two victories, but still finished second with 50 points behind Anna (129). Arcanum (31) was third, and Fairlawn (15) finished fourth.
Kahlig's second win displayed the Indians' dominance at the meet. She won the 200-meter dash in 30.1 seconds, and was followed by teammate Amy Link, Abby May, Sam Tobe and Becca Tobe in second through fifth place. She also took the top spot in the 400 dash, cruising to victory by more than four seconds in 1-minute, 7.6 seconds.
Fort Recovery swept the hurdles, with Mariah Koester winning the 100 in 18.7 and Olivia Schwieterman taking the 200 in 35.7. Abby May finished first in the 100 dash at 14.5 seconds, and Julie Kahlig posted a time of 3:02.6 to win the 800 run.
In field events, Mikayla Westgerdes dominated the discus by more than 14 feet at 79 feet 5 ½ inches, and Becca Tobe took the high jump by four inches by clearing the bar at 4 feet, 4 inches.
Aaron Vagedes and Sam Muhlenkamp turned in the lone victory for the Tribe boys. Vagedes was first in the 400 dash by more than three seconds in 58 flat, and Muhlenkamp won the high jump at 4 feet, 8 ½ inches.
Koester, May and Schwieterman teamed with Kelsey Fiely to win the girls 4x100 relay in 59.6. Tobe, Fiely, Michelle Evers and Kendra Stammen were first in the 4x200 relay with a time of 2:11.8, and Evers, Kahlig, Christen Wendel and Sam Tobe took the 4x400 relay in 5:02.8.[[In-content Ad]]
