Kahlig leads No. 2 Findlay

Collegiate Check-up

Greg Kahlig has been solid all season for the Oilers. In the last two games, he was spectacular.
The 2010 Fort Recovery High School graduate racked up a career-high 28 points in a 93-85 overtime win for the NCAA Division II No. 2 University of Findlay men’s basketball team over Tiffin on Dec. 16. And then in his first start Saturday, the freshman poured in a team-high 22 points in a 91-72 triumph over Ohio Dominican.
Kahlig, whose high scoring total through his first eight college games was 15 points, erupted against Tiffin. He hit the hoop that sparked the Oilers’ comeback from a six-point deficit with just 1:17 remaining and finished 10-of-16 from the field, including 4-of-6 from 3-point range. He also had four rebounds, three assists and a steal in his 37 minutes off the bench.
Fort Recovery’s all-time leading scorer kept the momentum going in his first start for Findlay (10-0) Saturday, going 8-of-12 from the field with another four 3-pointers. He added three rebounds, one assist and one steal.
Kahlig, who was the Ohio Basketball Coaches Association Division IV Player of the Year last season, has led the Oilers in scoring in each of their last three games and now ranks third on the team at 11.7 points per game. He is shooting 51 percent from the field and 37 percent from 3-point range, and ranks third in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in free-throw percentage at 88.9.
