Kahlig scores 1,000th point

In a span of four days, two Indians set scoring milestones.
Greg Kahlig, a 2010 Fort Recovery High School graduate, scored the 1,000th point of his collegiate career Saturday as he helped lead the University of Findlay men’s basketball team to a 67-41 win over Lake Erie. Joanna Snyder, FRHS class of 2009, had reached the 1,000-point mark at Ohio Northern University on Feb. 13.
Kahlig, who is Fort Recovery’s all-time leading scorer, reached his collegiate milestone on a 3-pointer with 7:01 left in the second half. He finished the game with 11 points, three rebounds, two blocks and an assist.
The senior had 23 points, seven boards, one assist and one steal Feb. 14 in a 69-52 victory over Ashland. He leads the Oilers (17-6) at 16.1 points per game and also averages 5.0 rebounds and 1.4 assists.

Broke a Defiance College record Saturday as the women’s swim team competed in the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships at Akron.
Miller broke her own school record in the 1,650-yard freestyle by 27 seconds as she finished 11th in the event in 19 minutes, 29.18 seconds. She also joined Jacqueline Loock, Nicole Tank and Brittany Pease to break the Defiance 1,600 freestyle relay record in 4:02.26.
The freshman was also 13th in the 400 individual medley in 5:04.97 and 16th with a time of 5:43.32 in the 500 freestyle.
