Kahlig, Vagedes lead FR (05/02/08)

VERSAILLES, Ohio - Aaron Vagedes and Kylie Kahlig each won multiple events Thursday as the Fort Recovery Middle School track teams competed in three-team action.

The Indian girls placed second with 57 points behind the host Versailles Tigers (65) and ahead of the Russia Raiders (34). The boys were third with 42 points behind Versailles (63) and Russia (51).

Vagedes earned three of the four victories for the boys team, dominating the high jump with a leap of 5 feet, 6 inches. No one else cleared the bar at better than 4 feet, 10 inches.

He was also first in the 200-meter dash in 26.28 seconds and the 400 dash at 56.56.

Kahlig was a double winner for the girls team, edging Abby Barlage of the host Tigers by 19 hundredths of a second in 30.67. She crushed the field in the shot put by nearly five feet with a toss of 32 feet, 1 ½ inches.

Mikayla Westgerdes took the discus by four feet at 75 feet, 6 inches. Abby May took the 100 dash in 15.28, and Mariah Koester posted a winning time of 18.56 in the 100 hurdles.

The only other victory for the boys team came from Nathan Fullenkamp in 5:30.16 in the 1,600 run.[[In-content Ad]]
