Kahlig's 30 lead Fort over Redskins

FRHS boys basketball

FORT RECOVERY - The Redskins simply could not stop Greg Kahlig.

The Fort Recovery High School senior scored 30 points Saturday night, including 17 in the fourth quarter, to power the Indian boys basketball team to a 49-42 victory over visiting Wapakoneta.

The Tribe (2-0) trailed by one at the half, but Kahlig gave the home team the lead on a jumper just 11 seconds into the third quarter. FRHS never trailed again.

Kahlig, who is in line to break Fort Recovery's all-time scoring record sometime in January, took over the game in the fourth quarter. He scored 17 of the Indians' 19 fourth-quarter points, with 13 of those coming at the free-throw line.

He finished the game a perfect 16-of-16 from the foul line while going 7-of-13 (54 percent) from the field. He also shared the team high of seven rebounds with freshman Wade Gelhaus.

Craig Tobe and Gelhaus each added five points for the Indians, who shot 58 percent in the second half compared to just 27 percent for Wapakoneta.

Alex Greva had 11 points for the Redskins, who never led by more than two in the game.

Mike Bogan totaled nine points and 10 rebounds, and Jackson Hayzlett also scored nine points.
