Kahlig's nine 3s tie record

Greg Kahlig spent his high school career climbing all the way to the top of Fort Recovery’s all-time scoring list. Now he’s got his name etched in the University of Findlay record book as well.
The 2010 Fort Recovery High School graduate tied a school record as he made nine 3-pointers Jan. 23 to power the Oilers in their 85-48 destruction of Ashland.
 Kahlig shot 9-of-13 from long distance to tie the record for 3-pointers in a game set by current Findlay assistant coach Dustin Pfeifer in 2006.
He poured in a season-high 34 points to move to 15th on the school’s all-time scoring list.
The senior also had a team-high six assists, two blocks, two rebounds and a steal.
Kahlig paced Findlay (13-3) with 21 points and five assists in Saturday’s 74-49 blowout of Lake Erie. He hit four 3-pointers and added four rebounds.
Kahlig ranks 15th in the nation in NCAA Division II with 22.3 points per game.
He now has 1,498 career points.

Scott Schwieterman
Jay County – 2013
Led the Anderson University men’s basketball team to its fourth win of the season Saturday, 78-71 over Bluffton.
Schwieterman paced the Ravens (4-13) with 20 points on 9-of-13 shooting and eight rebounds. He also had two blocks, two assists and a steal.
The freshman had four points, three rebounds and two assists in Wednesday’s 68-66 overtime loss to Rose-Hulman.

Pazia Speed
Jay County – 2010
Extended her double-digit scoring streak to 21 games in Wednesday’s 63-52 victory for the NAIA Division II No. 24 Huntington University women’s basketball team over Spring Arbor.
Speed was an efficient 6-of-9 from the field and finished with 12 points. She added six rebounds, three assists and a pair of blocks for the Foresters (16-6).
The senior totaled 18 points, six assists, five rebounds and four steals in a 74-65 win Saturday over Marian.

Kegan Comer
Jay County – 2013

Helped the NAIA Division II No. 9 University of St. Francis men’s basketball team get back on track with consecutive wins following a loss to Huntington.
Comer buried three 3-pointers Wednesday and scored 12 points as the Cougars improved to 17-6 by rallying from a 17-point deficit to beat Taylor 82-77 in overtime. He also had two rebounds, an assist and a steal.
The freshman finished with nine points, three assists and a steal Saturday in a 69-68 triumph over Mt. Vernon Nazarene.

Kylie Kahlig
Fort Recovery – 2012
Joined four teammates in double figures Saturday to lift the University of Northwestern Ohio women’s basketball team to an 86-76 victory over Lawrence Tech.
Kahlig finished with 11 points as the Racers pulled within a game of .500 at 10-11. She added four rebounds, two steals and an assist.

Neal Fennig
Jay County – 2011
Finished third in a couple of races for the Ball State University men’s swim team in Saturday’s meet against Ohio State and Eastern Michigan.
Fennig posted third-place times of 2 minutes, 27.05 seconds, in the 200-yard backstroke and 10:24.86 in the 1,000 freestyle. He also teamed with Cole Smith, Michael Oaks and Austin Green to win the 400 freestyle relay in 3:12.48.
His top finish Sunday at the Butler Invitational was eighth place with a time of 4:58.4 in the 500 freestyle.

Erin Hunt
Jay County – 2011
Started for the Bethel College women’s basketball team Wednesday in its 72-65 victory over Goshen.
Hunt had three points and three rebounds to go along with an assist and a steal for the Pilots (9-14). She had five points, one rebound, one assist and one steal in a 69-64 loss Saturday to Indiana Wesleyan.

Wade Gelhaus
Fort Recovery – 2013
Grabbed four rebounds for the Saginaw Valley State University men’s basketball team in Saturday’s 71-69 win over Michigan Tech.
Gelhaus also had one assist for the Cardinals, who improved to 7-9. He had two steals and a rebound in a 56-55 win Jan. 23 over Northern Michigan.[[In-content Ad]]
