Keep an eye out for bikes
Editorial
Great as it is to see sunshine, blooming daffodils, and robins on the lawn, there's one aspect of springtime that requires a conscious adjustment.
We're talking about bicycles.
Or, more specifically, kids on bicycles.
After months of being cooped up, kids have been burning off pent-up energy. And with Daylight Saving Time stretching afternoons and early evenings, they're out in traffic later and later.
Kids, of course, will be kids.
That's why it's incumbent upon the rest of us to make the necessary adjustment, keep an eye out for bicycles, give them a little extra room, and be prepared for sudden unexpected movements.
Spring ought to be a time of renewal and rebirth. But for that to happen, it first has to be safe.
So enjoy the sunshine and the daffodils and the robins, but do your best to make sure kids can enjoy them too. - J.R.
