Keep Miller in charge at airport

Letters to the Editor

I've intended to write you or the airport board since the first newspaper article about three weeks ago, but was uncertain how to express my opinion. Then Jack Ronald published his editorial Feb. 5. I could not have written so eloquently as Ronald did.

Dave Miller is the best person to operate that airport in a long, long time. Sometimes we don't understand how good a situation exists until it has passed. Do not let Dave Miller execute "plan B." Come to an agreement all can live with and move forward. I'm writing as a pilot and former airplane owner, one of which I hangered at the Portland Municipal Airport.

Work out a couple of contracts with Dave Miller and move forward. J.R. was right. Miller Aviation is a good corporate citizen and Dave Miller a good community leader.

Respectfully,

R.D. Houser

Take action

To the editor:

I hope Obama gets tired of preaching about jobs. He should do something about it.

He should put a stop to letting American companies go to Mexico and other foreign countries and find a way to keep them here.

When I was still working most of the jobs that was sent to Mexico came back unfit to use.

How many (foreign) illegals do we have in our country taking our jobs? Put a stop to this.

Don't forget the working American pays the bills and your paycheck.

We get no more cost of living increase, but we can go to outer space.

Even my last employer (of 9 ½ years) has cut my small pension by $30.

Medicare went up and my insurance started a 10 percent off the top on all medical.

These things make it rough.

Our government should put a stop to jobs leaving our country for 5-10 years until our country gets stable.

There has been another closing (WFW). They make water pumps for General Motors.

God bless our country.
