Kernan out of touch?
Editor's Mailbag
By To the editor:-
Just a comment or two regarding Governor Kernan's State of the State message.
Sixteen years is a long time to try to stay in touch with constituents and to keep ones enthusiasm. The things Governor Kernan advocated, jobs, education and a manageable budget are things we all want. He has had many years to accomplish these fine objectives. Why should we believe that he now has answers for these problems? Actually, he glossed over our job losses and the $1 billion deficit.
It is an absolute necessity that our state position itself as business friendly to entice companies to choose us as a place to start-up or expand. This is the way to regain the lost jobs we have experienced the past few years.
Mitch Daniels, who I expect to be the Republican rival of Governor Kernan, said, "we have not been governed by bad people, but we have been badly governed." Think about it.
