Peyton Manning may be MVP.
But he won't be the best man at Lucas Oil Stadium on Saturday.
That's because the home of the Indianapolis Colts will be the scene of the wedding of a Dunkirk couple, a wedding that will be a first for the football stadium.
"We're huge Colts fans," said Brittany VanSkyock this week. "We're the first wedding there."
Brittany, daughter of Karmella VanSkyock and Justin Smitley, son of Doug Smitley and Terri Lewellen, will be wed in a ceremony performed by Rev. Randy Davis of Redkey United Methodist Church at 4:30 p.m.
The season ticket holders will be united in a traditional ceremony on the horseshoe stage at Lucas Oil, with the Colts field as the backdrop.
"Actually, it was my idea," said Brittany.
"We're just Colts fans, and it was just somewhere original," said Justin, a pressman for Indiana Ticket Co.
In a nod to the wedding venue, Justin will wear a Colts tie and Brittany's bouquet - made by her grandmother, Martha Ingle - has a Colts horseshoe motif. "We're not wearing jerseys," Brittany added with a laugh.
After the traditional vows, Rev. Davis is cooking up some vows with a football theme for the occasion.
"I think he's more excited than we are," said Justin.
After the ceremony, "They're going to let us get pictures on the field and other places in the stadium," said Brittany. "We're excited."
Justin added, "I wish they could open the roof."
A reception will follow in the Quarterback Suite.
"We've had a lot of help from family to make this happen," Brittany said.
She especially credited her mother and grandmother, Justin's father, and family friend Shelly Miskinis.
"She introduced us to Randy. He's such a wonderful guy."
She added that Brett Cole of the Lucas Oil Stadium staff has been a tremendous help.
Wedding plans were set in motion by contacting Cole after a visit to the stadium's Internet site.
Following the wedding, the couple will make a honeymoon trip to Hawaii. They won the trip in a recent drawing.
Kendra Stouder will be maid of honor for the ceremony.
And the best man?
Since Peyton isn't expected to be in attendance, that'd be Derek Bantz.[[In-content Ad]]
