Kindergarten round-up coming (03/31/07)
Kindergarten round-up begins Tuesday in Jay County.
Pre-registration sessions for students that will attend kindergarten starting in the 2007-08 school year will last two hours beginning at 8:30 a.m. Parents will meet with school officials, while children participate in activities.
Sessions will be held at General Shanks Elementary on Tuesday, Westlawn Elementary on Wednesday, Judge Haynes on Thursday, Redkey Elementary on April 10, Pennville Elementary on April 11, East Elementary on April 12 and Bloomfield Elementary on April 13.
Students residing in the state, must be at least five-years on or before Aug. 1 to enroll.
The Indiana General Assembly is still contemplating full-day kindergarten.
If Jay School Corporation offers full-day kindergarten, parents will be notified of the change.
Students and parents should attend round up at the school in the district where they live. Parents will need to bring their child's certified birth certificate and their child's immunization records.
Parents that have not pre-registered their child can call or visit the school.
