Laux files for school board
A second candidate has entered his name for one of four open positions on the Jay County School Board.
Ronald Laux, 2075 S. Blaine Pike, Portland, filed for candidacy for the District 5 seat.
That seat is currently held by Larry Paxson.
Paxson, who has moved out of District 5 since he was elected to the seat in 2006, has not officially announced his candidacy but is expected to file in District 1 for a seat currently held by board president Bryan Alexander.
Portland resident Mike Foreman has filed to run for that District 1 seat. Alexander is not expected to seek re-election. The school board and general elections are scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 2.
Other board seats up for election include one currently held by Jay Halstead (Greene, Penn and Knox townships) and Michael Shannon (city of Dunkirk.) Shannon is expected to run for re-election, while Halstead is not.[[In-content Ad]]
