The Polar Bears have won 10 of their first 11 games. They’re ranked in the top 20 in the nation.
A Fort Recovery High School graduate has been their most consistent player.
Joanna Snyder, FRHS class of 2009, has scored in double figures in 10 of the NCAA Division III No. 19 Ohio Northern University women’s basketball team’s 11 games, including each of the last four.
Snyder tallied four points during a 10-0 Polar Bear run to open the second half in Wednesday’s 71-43 victory over Otterbein. She finished with 11 points, six rebounds and one assist.
The senior totaled 13 points, five rebounds and three assists as ONU defeated Denison 66-62 Sunday. She also had 13 points, seven rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks in Saturday’s 79-54 victory over Muskingum.
Snyder has scored at least nine points in every game this year and is second on the team in scoring (12.9 points per game) and rebounding (5.5 per game). She leads the Polar Bears in blocks with 10.

Contributed to an outstanding shooting effort by the Huntington University women’s basketball team Saturday as it rolled to a 92-68 victory over host Asbury.
Speed shot 6-of-10 from the field and was one of five Foresters in double figures with 13 points. She also had a team-high seven assists and four rebounds.
Huntington’s starting five shot 64 percent as the team improved to 8-3.
Holly Brunswick
Fort Recovery – 2011
Scored a career-high nine points Dec. 13 in the Ohio Dominican University women’s basketball team’s 78-51 loss to Michigan Tech.
Brunswick drained all of her three 3-point attempts for her career-high scoring total. She also had two rebounds for the Panthers (3-6).
The sophomore had three points and one rebound Sunday before suffering a season-ending knee injury in a 54-46 loss to Northern Michigan.
Greg Kahlig
Fort Recovery – 2010
Scored in double figures in a pair of close victories for the NCAA Division II No. 24 University of Findlay men’s basketball team.
Kahlig hit both of his 3-point attempts Monday and scored a team-best 14 points to lead the Oilers (7-2) to a 64-60 victory over Grand Valley State. He also had one rebound.
The junior finished with 13 points, three rebounds and three steals Saturday as Findlay knocked off Ferris State 82-81.
Nick Leonhard
Jay County – 2012
Picked up his first collegiate victory for the Trine University wrestling team Dec. 1 at the Indiana Little State Open hosted by the University of Indianapolis.
Leonhard’s first win came against teammate Kyle Clevenger by a 10-0 major decision in the 157-pound bracket. He finished the tournament with a 1-3 record.
Kylie Kahlig

Helped the University of Northwestern Ohio women’s basketball team to victory Saturday by a 73-56 score over Aquinas.
Kahlig scored six points for the Racers, who are now 3-9. She also had six rebounds, two steals and an assist.
Eme Miller
Jay County – 2012
Finished second in a pair of events as the Defiance College women’s swim team came away with a split Sunday. The Yellow Jackets defeated Ursuline 67-65, and lost 122-36 to host Baldwin-Wallace.
Miller was the runner-up in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2 minutes, 26.7 seconds. She also finished second in the 1,000 freestyle in 11:57.01.
The freshman posted a time of 5:48.39 for third place in the 500 freestyle.

Played for the University of Northwestern Ohio men’s basketball team Saturday in its 71-66 victory over Aquinas.
Pottkotter dished out one assist in 18 minutes of action for the Racers (6-4). He also had a rebound for UNOH in Monday’s 71-68 loss to Adrian.

Saw five minutes of action for the NAIA Division II No. 18 Bethel College women’s basketball team Friday as it defeated Indiana Northwest 89-51.
Hunt grabbed one rebound for the Pilots, who improved to 11-2.
