Lease proposals sought (9/7/04)
Occupant sought for annex II
Jay County Commissioners could find out next week if they’ll be getting a tenant in a building they purchased earlier this year.
Legal advertisements asking for proposals to lease the building at 215 W. Main St. in Portland were published Sept. 1 in The Commercial Review and The (Dunkirk) News and Sun.
Those proposals will be opened Monday, Sept. 13, at 1 p.m.
The building, which has been home to several automobile dealerships over the years, was most recently owned by the operator of Hanni Plumbing, Heating and Cooling. Hanni is still operating in the rear portion of the building.
The commissioners purchased the building in February at a cost of $163,000 with an eye toward a possible necessary expansion/addition to the Jay County Jail, which is located directly south of what is being called Jay County Courthouse Annex II.
Also this morning, Commissioners Gary Theurer, Mike Leonhard and Milo Miller Jr., at the request of Jay County clerk Jane Ann Runyon, selected a bank to write a lease-purchase agreement for a new election system in the county.
Federal grant funds passed through state officials are expected to pay the total cost for the system of $218,000. But Runyon said this morning she’s not cer- (Continued on page 5)

tain if the reimbursement will be approved quickly enough to pay MicroVote General Corp., the vendor supplying the new voting machines.
The lease with First National Bank will carry an interest rate of 2.699 percent.
Runyon said this morning she expects the first new push-button video display voting machine to be delivered this week.[[In-content Ad]]
