Jay School Board
A public notice published in Saturday's edition of The Commercial Review was incorrect.
Contrary to the published notice, the Jay School Board has taken no action on building a multi-purpose facility/auxiliary gym at Jay County High School.
In fact, a public hearing on a proposal to issue bonds for such a facility will be held today at 6 p.m. at the school corporation's administrative office building, 404 E. Arch St., Portland.
Construction plans will be presented by Barton, Coe, Vilamaa Architects and Engineers of Fort Wayne and information on how the project will be funded, the tax impact and payment options will be discussed by Sid Baker of City Securities Corporation of Indianapolis.
The board will consider a bond issue of as much as $3.5 million to help finance construction of the building. The school board has accumulated $500,000 in the school system's capital projects fund for the facility. An additional $250,000 from that fund could be available before the construction is complete.
Should the board decide to move forward with the project, it would trigger a 30-day period during which opponents could file a remonstrance petition signed by a minimum of 100 property owners.[[In-content Ad]]
