Loblolly days returns in September

To the editor:
Did you miss Bryant Loblolly Days last year?
If you did, you will be pleased that the event is being held this year at the usual time, the weekend after Labor Day, Sept. 6, 7 and 8. This year’s activities begin Friday evening with the Loblolly Country Queen Contest and coed softball tournament at 6 p.m., the band Run Amuck at 7 p.m. and straw throwing contest at 7:30 p.m.
Saturday’s activities begin with breakfast at the Bryant Fire Deparment at 7 a.m., a three-on-three basketball tournament at 8 a.m., baby contest, Jay County Humane Society “Adopt a Pet” and truck and car show registration at 9 a.m. Pet Parade and Grand Parade lineup are at the Bryant Industrial Park at 11 a.m., and the Grand Parade with the theme of “Fun in the Sun” at noon. Public and businesses are invited to be part of the parade!
Saturday afternoon events include a robotics demonstration by the Jay County High School robotics team, Euchre tournament at 1 p.m., Lutheran Hospital Helicopter fly in between 1 and 3:30 p.m. and a Patriot Sweetcakes demonstration as well as entertainment provided by Karaoke Konnection at 2 p.m., Kids Petal Tractor Pull at 3 p.m., Hillbilly Olympics at 5 p.m. and Zumba with Dawn Milligan at 6 p.m. Wrapping up the evening will be Boot Hill band at 7 p.m.
Sunday’s activities include a Family Worship service at 11 a.m. and a community picnic at noon. Participants are encouraged to bring a covered dish, and free-will offerings accepted.
A horse pull held at the north park and a bed race held on Main Street at 1 p.m.
Madonna Duran will sing contemporary Christian music at 1:30, and there will be a cornhole at 2 p.m. A live public auction begins at 2:30 p.m.
Other activities held throughout the weekend include the fire department’s smoke house (a simulated smoke-filled house), farmers market, face painting, kids games and bounce house.
We hope to see you at Bryant for a fun filled weekend!

CrownPointe Communities, State of the Heart Hospice, CareOne Homecare Services and Lifebridge along with Persimmon Ridge Nursing facility and Miller’s Merry Manor Nursing facility would like to thank the Jay County Fair Board for the great fair this year. We would like to thank Pennville American Legion and Lindy and Janis James for providing the bingo equipment for our Senior Bingo Day at the fair.
