Local resident supports principal
Letters to the Editor
After reading the article about Mike Eads in the paper, I have felt compelled to write these few remarks.
I have known Mr. Eads for years and have never noticed anything out of the order.
He is a very serious and upright man. He has always been known as a man of the highest integrity.
I was a Kid's Hope mentor at Mr. Eads' school and while there, I noticed the way the children in every class clamored around him and showed him nothing but outward love in every way possible. Even though the children were expressing their emotions, he gently and quietly guided them, reminding them to stay in line and to be calm, quiet and orderly.
Don't you find it strange that after all these years as a teacher and principal that just now he is a child abuser?
I would believe Mr. Eads every time.

To the editor:
On behalf of Jay School Reading is Fundamental program, I would like to take this time to thank all of the Jay County businesses, industries and not-for-profit organizations for their generous contribution tot this wonderful reading program.
The Reading is Fundamental program, known as RIF, allows each student in grades kindergarten through five to receive a free book of their choice three times a year. It is usually distributed with a theme for what is going on in the individual school or some kind of national event encouraging how important reading is in the learning process.
Our local distribution reaches 1,766 students in all seven of our county elementary schools. For some of the students it might be the only books they will ever have in their home.
This program has been made possible by the following contributors and the National RIF Foundation for 2009-10: American Legion Post 227, Bixler Insurance/Stockton Real Estate, Cross Roads Financial, Dayton Progress, Delta Theta Tau (Dunkirk), Delta Theta Tau Sorority, Dunkirk Lions Club, Family Practice of Jay County, FCC (Indiana), First Merchants Bank, Gamma Alpha Psi Iota Xi (Portland), Gamma Nu Sorority, Kiwanis of Dunkirk, Kiwanis of Portland, Knights of Columbus Council 12307, MainSource Bank, Moser Engineering, Pennville Elementary PTO, Pennville Lions Club, Portland Lions Club, Portland Morning Optimist Club, Stoneridge, Tri-Kappa-Beta and the West Jay Optimist Club.
Again, thank you for investing in our biggest asset in Jay County - our children.
Sincerely,
Trent Paxson, principal,
Judge Haynes
