Long: No specifics on cuts yet
Jay Schools superintendent Tim Long said Thursday he's still awaiting specifics on how much the corporation's budget will have to be cut, but the figure he keeps hearing is $300 per pupil. That would translate into a reduction in state funding of about $1 million.
"We've identified probably 50 different items for cost reduction if it comes to that," Long said. "I think we've done a good job of making that list."
He questioned whether a pay freeze was feasible, given the fact that the school corporation has a contract agreement in place with the Jay Classroom Teachers Association.
