Low bid for lift station is $1.3 million (11/28/06)
Portland Redevelopment Commission
Bids for a local board's first major project were opened Monday.
Three Indiana companies submitted bids to widen Industrial Park Drive and relocate the north lift station in Portland. The bids, which ranged from about $1.3 million to $1.5 million, were opened by Bruce Hosier, mayor of Portland, Linda Kennedy, the city's clerk-treasurer, and officials with The Schneider Corporation.
LICA Construction Corp., Linn Grove, submitted the lowest bid at $1,297,564, and Wayne Asphalt of Fort Wayne submitted the highest at $1,499,000.
Fleming Excavating of Decatur also submitted a bid of $1,354,801, Kennedy said this morning.
A date for the bids to be submitted to the Portland Redevelopment Commission for approval has not been set. Commission members voted in June to have the widening of Industrial Park Drive and relocation of the lift station to be the group's first project. Plans call for moving the north lift station to the east side of the street and increasing its capacity.
The curve near the station is expected to be straightened, and the street will be widened to include a center turn lane.[[In-content Ad]]
