Ludy doubles in 1st game (02/28/2009)

Josh Ludy saw his first collegiate action Wednesday. And he made the most of it.
The 2008 Jay County High School graduate recorded an extra-base hit in his first game for the sixth-ranked Baylor University baseball team. The Bears defeated visiting Houston Baptist 15-4.
Ludy came in as a pinch hitter for Gregg Glime in the sixth inning and took over at catcher for the remainder of the game. After flying out in his first career at-bat, he ripped a double to left-center field in the eighth inning.
The freshman advanced to third base on a single by Lucas Hileman, and scored on a fielder's choice by Landis Ware.

Won her only race Feb. 20 for the Huntington University women's track at the Grand Rapids Championship hosted by Grand Valley State.
Roughia took the top spot in the 1,000-meter run in 3-minutes, 7.12 seconds. She was also third in the same event a week earlier in 3:10.11 at the DePauw University Indoor Track Invitational.
Amanda Johnson

Helped the Indiana Wesleyan University women's track team to a third-place finish Feb. 21 at the 12-team National Christian College Athletic Association Indoor Championship hosted by Cedarville University.
Johnson teamed with Laura Dziagwa, Kailee Whitaker and Cassidy Wagner for second place in the distance medley in 12-minutes, 34.09 seconds. She also joined Whitaker, Heidi Forgeng and Melissa Morgan for third place in the 4x800 relay at 9:48.31.

Placed two spots behind her sister in the distance medley as her Taylor University women's track team finished eighth at the NCCAA Indoor Championship.
Johnson, Ashley Henry, Kirstin Hegelein and Kayce Swofford posted a time of 13:46.03 to finish fourth in the distance medley.
The junior also finished the mile run in 5:25.98 for 10th place.

Was one of three players to score in double figures for the Defiance College women's basketball team, which dropped its final game of the season 79-66 Feb. 21 to Franklin.
Stein scored 11 points for the Yellow Jackets, who finished 9-16. She added three rebounds, two steals, one assist and one block.
The sophomore was Defiance's leading scorer this year at 11.9 points per game. She shot 82 percent from the free-throw line, grabbed 5.1 rebounds per game and added 35 assists, 24 steals and one block in 20 games this year.

Both finished in the top five of the 5,000-meter run as the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's track team won Feb. 21 as hosts of the seven-team Hoosier-Buckeye Invitational.
The twin brothers finished among a group of Engineer runners who swept the top seven spots in their race. Ian was third in 15-minutes, 57.18 seconds, and Mitchell took fifth in 16:16.73.

Competed for the Anderson University women's track team as it hosted the Feb. 21 Raven Invitational.
Mescher finished the 400-meter dash in 1-minute, 8.01 seconds. She placed eighth and was 0.54 seconds behind seventh-place teammate Maggie Lucas.[[In-content Ad]]
