Ludy leading No. 25 Baylor

The Baylor Bears are undefeated and ranked 25th in the nation. And a former Patriot is helping lead the way.
Josh Ludy, Jay County High School class of 2008, was the only player with multiple hits Wednesday as the Baylor University baseball team stayed perfect with a 5-1 victory over Texas State.
Ludy got the Bears (5-0) on the board with an RBI double in the first inning, and also drove in a run with a sacrifice fly in the fifth. He added a single in the seventh inning.
The senior catcher had a hit and two RBIs in Tuesday’s 7-1 win over Texas Christian, and three singles, three doubles, four RBIs and a run in a three-game sweep of Oral Roberts.
Ludy is hitting .500 thus far with team bests of nine hits, eight RBIs and four doubles.
Pazia Speed
Jay County – 2010
Led the Huntington University women’s basketball team in scoring in its final game of the regular season.
Speed racked up 17 points for the Foresters, hitting three 3-pointers in a 75-58 victory Saturday over Spring Arbor. She also had three steals and two assists.
The sophomore added seven points, two steals and one assist as Huntington (20-9) opened the Mid-Central Conference Tournament with 69-65 win Tuesday over Marian.
Amanda Johnson
Jay County – 2008
Picked up a top-10 finish for the Indiana Wesleyan University women’s track team at Saturday’s National Christian College Athletic Association Indoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Cedarville.
Johnson placed seventh in the NCCAA in the 800-meter run, finishing in 2 minutes, 24.98 seconds. She also teamed with Allix Miller, Tracey Tiernon and Kyla Morgan for fourth in the 4x400 relay in 4:10.12.
Greg Kahlig
Ft. Recovery – 2010
Scored in double figures for the University of Findlay men’s basketball team in Saturday’s 74-69 victory over Ferris State.
Kahlig shot 50 percent from the field and hit three 3-pointers to finish with 13 points for the Oilers (19-6). He also had three rebounds, two assists, two blocks and a steal.
The sophomore totaled 10 points, three rebounds, two assists and one steal on Feb. 16 in a 68-57 win over Grand Valley State.
Brandon Reynard
Jay County - 2009
Turned in a pair of top-eight finishes for the Indiana Tech men’s track team on Saturday in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Trine.
Reynard had his best effort in the 60-meter hurdles, finishing seventh in 8.96 seconds. He posted a time of 51.13 in the 400 hurdles to take eighth place.
Kendra Brunswick
Ft .Recovery – 2011
Tallied 13 points Saturday in the Edison Community College women’s basketball team’s 62-61 win over Cuyahoga Community.
Brunswick buried three 3-pointers to help the Chargers (14-9) rally for the one-point win.
She also had five assists and a pair of steals.
Dexter Shreve
Jay County – 2009
Competed for the Kent State University men’s track team at Saturday’s Kent State Tune-Up.
Shreve cleared the bar in the pole vault at a height of 14 feet, 11 inches to finish in seventh place.
Joanna Snyder
Fort Recovery – 2009
Scored in double figures in the Ohio Northern University women’s basketball team’s final game of the regular season.
Snyder went 3-for-4 from long distance and finished with 12 points Saturday as the Polar Bears (20-5) fell 70-65 to Baldwin-Wallace. She also had five rebounds and five assists.
Megan Taylor
Jay County – 2011
Helped the Manchester College women’s track team to a fifth-place finish out of 10 teams in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Championships.
Taylor placed 10th in her only individual event, finishing the mile run in 5 minutes, 54.7 seconds. She joined Karla Madrigal, Emma Weiler and Aubrey Smith for a fifth-place finish in the distance medley in 13:45.63.
Nick Teeter
South Adams – 2010
Played for the Huntington University men’s basketball team in Saturday’s 85-66 loss to Spring Arbor.
Teeter finished with three points and one rebound for the Foresters (17-13).
Jordan McMillan
Jay County – 2011
Ran for the Ball State University women’s track team Friday as it finished third while hosting the Ball State Quad.
McMillan placed 11th for the Cardinals in the 200-meter dash in 26.78 seconds.[[In-content Ad]]
