Ludy leads Big 12 in RBIs

A Jay County High School graduate is leading one of the best, and hottest, teams in the country.
Josh Ludy, JCHS class of 2008, is the top run-producer for the Baylor University baseball team, which has won 16 straight games and is ranked No. 8 in the NCAA Division I USA Today Coaches Poll.
The senior catcher finished 2-for-4 Tuesday and drove in the final run in a 7-5 victory over Louisiana-Monroe. He had a hit in the first inning, singled and scored in the third and added an RBI sacrifice fly in the sixth.
Ludy was also 2-for-5 with two RBIs and a run Saturday in a 12-7 victory over Missouri, and had a hit, two RBIs and a run Friday in a 5-3 win over the Tigers.
His 34 RBIs in 33 games lead the Big 12, and he is also fourth in the conference with 10 doubles. He ranks second for the Bears (27-7) with a .328 batting average and has 40 hits and 14 runs on the year.
Jordan McMillan
Jay County – 2011
Contributed to a third-place relay finish for the Ball State University women’s track team, which finished seventh out of 18 squads at Saturday’s Miami Invitational.
McMillan ran the lead leg as she teamed with Janae Taylor, Rebecca Lomax and Thekla Lorenz for third place in the 4x100 relay in 47.29 seconds. They were just over a second behind the championship team from the host Redhawks.
The freshman also placed 12th out of 29 athletes in the 100 dash in 12.68 and was 17th out of 37 in the 200 dash in 26.25.
Jana Beitler
South Adams – 2009
Got a five-run seventh inning started for the Goshen College women’s softball team Tuesday as it rallied past Spring Arbor for a 7-6 win in the second game of a doubleheader.
The Maple Leafs (12-23) trailed 6-2, but Beitler led off the last inning with an infield single.
She came around to score on Christine Stubblefield’s double to right to finish 2-for-3 with two runs.
Beitler scored a run in the first game of the doubleheader, went 3-for-3 Saturday in a 2-1 win over St. Mary-of-the-Woods and finished 2-for-3 April 5 in a 5-1 loss to Huntington.
Megan Taylor

Turned in a top-10 finish for the Manchester College women’s track team April 5 as it hosted a five-team meet against Spring Arbor, Huntington, St. Francis and Grace.
Taylor’s top effort came in the 800-meter run as she finished ninth in 2 minutes, 32.99 seconds. She also posted a time of 5:23.17 for 13th place in the 1,500 run.
The freshman teamed with Emma Weiler, Morgan Hammel and Meredith Cors for sixth in the 4x400 relay in 4:41.93.

Had one of the six hits for the Ball State University baseball team Wednesday in a 15-2 loss to Purdue.
Wellman notched an infield single in the fourth inning to drive in Sean Godfrey with the second run of the game for the Cardinals (7-23).
Adam Gray

Competed for the University of St. Francis golf team Friday and Saturday as it finished fifth while hosting the 10-team Cougar Spring Invitational.
Gray played consistent golf, shooting 80 on the first day of the tournament and 79 on the second. His score of 159 was second best on the USF squad and placed him 27th overall.[[In-content Ad]]
