Make a difference
Editorial
How do you make a difference?
Inch by inch.
Day by day.
And, tonight, can by can.
For years, Jay County families have flocked to the JCHS gym on prom night to see the young people in their finery.
Tonight, that will be a part of the equation.
The other part will be a chance to make a difference.
Partnering with Jay County High School students, volunteers from The Commercial Review will be collecting canned goods, dry food, health and hygiene products, and other items for the Helping Hand Food Pantry operated by Community and Family Services.
Cynics like to dismiss events like proms and parties as frivolous nonsense.
This is a chance to prove the cynics wrong.
Are proms and parties frivolous? Of course they are. But celebration — having a good time — is an important part of the human experience.
And when that celebration, that good time, is coupled with sharing, with recognizing the needs of others, everyone wins.
Everyone wins.
That’s what the first-ever “Promen-Aid” is all about, everyone winning, everyone having a meaningful celebration.
So we hope we see you there. And we hope that the delivery we make to the food pantry on your behalf is jaw-dropping in its generosity.
Every prom leaves behind a memory. This one could be unforgettable. — J.R.
