Making it happen (8/5/03)

Volunteers make things happen, and a group of hard-working volunteers teamed up this past Saturday (July 19) to repair more than 2,500-square feet of roof at the Museum of the Solider as part of a phase one roof repair project.

Sweeping off gravel, brushing off pitch and rolling out roofing under a very warm sun was not enough to discourage them as they met the challenge to reduce and in most cases eliminate some major leaks in the museum’s west roof.

Those volunteers were Paul Imel, Chip Feazell, Brian Williamson, Mike and Landon Bettinger, Dr. Eugene Gillum, Dave Marchand, John Knipp, Mike McBride, Nathan Horne and Sam Crump, with guidance provided by Leoris Williamson.

On behalf of the Museum of the Solider board of directors and membership, a heartfelt thank you is extended to all of the above named volunteers. Thank you for a job well done.

In addition, a special thank you is extended to the Portland McDonald’s for providing lunch for the crew.
