Editor's Mailbag
By To the editor:-
I would like to thank the Jay County Boys Club once again for their support of the middle school baseball program — especially Michael Hunt and Jack Houck for their efforts.
I would like to congratulate the East Jay team and coaches for having an outstanding year by going undefeated and winning the league championship.
I would also like to congratulate the West Jay team and coaches for a successful year.
I would like to recognize and publicly thank the following individuals for helping to coach these young men: Rick Locke, Kevin McCowan, Kyle Champ, Devon Phillips, Randy Mann, Rick Wellman, Jan Simmons and Joe Jobe. I would like to give a special congratulations to Justin Mann for winning the sportsmanship award for Jay County.
I would like to congratulate Heath Williams on being selected to the North-South All-State team and being named to the honorable mention All-State team.
On a side note, I would like to congratulate the Redkey 8-and-under all-star team for winning the Tri-County League championship with a record of 10-0. They finished the season 19-3.
Yours in baseball,
Lea Selvey,
