McCowan gets 1st extra-base hit

A Jay County High School graduate helped the IPFW baseball team to a victory in the first game of its series Thursday at North Dakota State.
Thomas McCowan got the first extra-base hit of his collegiate career as the Mastodons knocked off NDSU 7-3. He finished 1-for-3 with a double as part of a two-run first inning.
The freshman also had one hit Sunday and May 8, both coming in losses to South Dakota State.
McCowan also made another appearance on the mound May 9 against SDSU. He walked one batter as he tossed a scoreless inning in the 20-6 loss.

Pitched for the IPFW baseball team May 8 in its 7-0 loss to South Dakota State.
Shatto finished off the game, allowing one run on two hits and a walk as he tossed one-third of an inning.

Earned a fifth-place finish May 9 for the Taylor University women's track team at the Mid-Central Conference/Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Challenge.
Johnson posted a time of 2-minutes, 21.26 seconds to take fifth in the 800-meter run.
She also teamed with Stephanie Kenney, LaJoya Smith and Morgan Achteroff for a time of 4-minutes, 14.12 seconds in the 4x400 relay.

Also competed in the MCC/WHAC Challenge hosted by her Indiana Wesleyan women's track team.
