McLaughlin hired by Jay/Portland Board
Jay/Portland Building and Planning Board
By By RACHELLE HAUGHN-
An administrative assistant was hired by the Jay/Portland Building and Planning Board Wednesday night.
Patricia McLaughlin, 948 Boundary Pike, Portland, will work in the building and planning office with Bill Milligan, building and planning administrator.
She replaces Gayle Davenport, who resigned Feb. 22. Davenport had served as the department’s administrative assistant since 2000.
McLaughlin’s first day will be April 3, Milligan said this morning.
McLaughlin has bookkeeping experience working for car dealerships. She currently works at Super Supply in Portland as a bookkeeper/clerk.
She is a graduate of Jay County High School and received a degree from International Business College. She is the wife of Bryce McLaughlin.
She will be responsible for administrative duties in the office, and will also serve as secretary for city and county boards.
The five boards she will cover include the Portland and Jay County boards of zoning appeals, the Portland and Jay County planning commissions and the joint building and planning board.
Milligan said he recommended the board hire McLaughlin because, “I felt she was the most qualified for the job.”
Also Wednesday, the board asked Milligan to review fees charged when someone applies for a building permit or a zoning change. The rates have been in place since 1998, Milligan said.
Milligan will come up with a proposed increase in the fee schedule and present it to the Portland City Council and Jay County Commissioners for approval. Milligan said he doesn’t know when he would have the figures ready to present.[[In-content Ad]]
