Meehan files to try to retain seat on council (02/14/06)
George Meehan, an incumbent Jay County Councilman, filed Monday in the Jay County Clerk’s office to seek reelection to the District 4 seat that represents Jefferson, Pike, Wayne 4, Wayne 5, Wayne 6, Madison and Noble Townships.
Filing to gain his party’s nomination in the May primary election, Meehan, a resident of 7624 East Ind. 26, Portland, is being opposed on the Republican ticket in the primary by newcomer, Vicki Cecil, Portland.
Former councilman Andy Schemenaur Jr., Portland, filed to run on the Democrat ticket to try to win the District 4 seat.
Meehan also filed for Republican Precinct committeeman in Noble Township.
Additionally the race for a seat on the Redkey Town Board is heating up as two more candidates have filed on the Democrat ticket to seek a seat, making four candidates hoping to gain the seat.
Douglas Stanley, 252 S. Harrison St., Redkey, filed Monday afternoon to gain the Democrats’ nomination as did Terry A. Miller, 135 N. Ash St., Redkey.
Also filing earlier to seek the nomination in the primary were Zeb Sutton and James Clayton Phillips.
Other filings Monday in the Jay County Clerk’s office were:
•Ilze Koch, 1429 East 200 South, Portland, Republican delegate.
•Robert C. Ford, 9697 West 400 South, Redkey, Richland Township Advisory Board.[[In-content Ad]]
