Maddie Moore has been among the Beavers’ leaders in shots on goal all season. Now she’s cashing them in.
The 2009 South Adams High School graduate has scored two goals in each of the Bluffton University women’s soccer team’s last two games, including a pair in the second half Wednesday in a 4-0 victory at Anderson.
After the Beavers built a 2-0 lead at halftime over Anderson, Moore’s first shot of the second half was saved by Kelsie Strand. But she came back at the 57:30 mark to score her fifth goal of the season. The senior scored again just eight minutes later off of an assist from Megan Moreo.
Moore also had two of Bluffton’s three goals Saturday in a 4-3 loss to Earlham. She tied the score with a goal less than 10 minutes into the game, and gave the Beavers (3-7-1) the lead when she found the net again with less than two minutes remaining in the first half.
She is second on the team with six goals this season.

Led the Ohio Northern University football team in receiving Saturday in a 22-20 loss to Baldwin Wallace.
Thien caught a 33-yard touchdown pass from Tate Humphrey on a 4th-and-8 play late in the opening quarter. He added a 21-yard reception for a first down in the third quarter.
Allison Beitler
South Adams – 2010
Helped the Goshen College women’s cross country team to a fourth-place finish Friday at the Benedictine University Eagle Invitational.
Beitler finished the 6K course in 25 minutes, 59 seconds. She was the No. 6 runner for the Maple Leafs and placed 54th overall.
Tim Lehman
South Adams – 2012
Ran for Goshen College’s men’s cross country team Saturday at the Eagle Invitational.
Lehman finished eighth on the Maple Leafs’ squad and 35th overall. He posted a time of 27 minutes, 2 seconds.
Drew Houck
Jay County – 2011
Played for the Indiana University East men’s golf team, which finished third out of six squads as host of the Oct. 4 Waterfront Classic.
Houck shot a 43 on the front nine at Harbor Links Golf Course. He finished with an 89 to post the No. 5 score for the Red Wolves and tie for 20th overall.
Dalton McGill
Jay County – 2009
Played for the Trine University football team as it picked up its third straight win Saturday, 27-22 over Albion.
McGill is a senior defensive back for the Thunder.
Megan Taylor
Jay County – 2011
Competed Saturday for the Manchester College women’s cross country team, which finished 15th out of 30 teams at the Rose-Hulman Pre-National Meet.
Taylor finished the 6K race in 26 minutes, 4 seconds. She was 10th on Manchester squad and 128th overall.[[In-content Ad]]
